Résumé
The objective of the training session is to give a 360° awareness raising view on the status of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), developed by ICAO.
Objectifs de la formation
- Define the CO2 and no-CO2 emission coming from civil aviation and the levers for reducing these emissions
- Present the basket of measures defined by ICAO
- Explain CORSIA's objectives and expectations
- Present the different elements and actors of the CORSIA regime
Prérequis
Understanding of the civil aviation market organization.
Description
- Introduction to market-based measures;
- The motivations for setting up CORSIA in the fight against climate change, to compensate for the emissions that could not be reduced by the other pillars of the ICAO Basket of Measures, in order to guarantee Carbon Neutral Growth (CNG) from 2020 onwards;
- The definition and identification of different phases of CORSIA (Resolutions A39-3, A40-19, Annex16-volume IV, Environmental Technical Manual);
- The general guidelines of CORSIA (applicability, offset requirements, emissions reductions units):
- Implementation Components
- Offset requirement steps
- Action checklist
- The three key principles of CORSIA and the associated stakeholders (operators, regulators, independent verifiers):
- Monitoring (emissions monitoring plan, options...)
- Reporting
- Verification
- ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT);
- CORSIA eligible fuels;
- CORSIA eligible emissions units;
- CORSIA Central Registry, including publication of information;
- Facilitation capabilities (ACT CORSIA for Assistance, Capacity-building, and Training)
- CORSIA Buddy Partnerships
- Status of CORSIA Implementation
Evaluation
Multiple on-line surveys
Methods
Alternating theoretical and practical contributions, participative workshops
Points forts
- Expert instructor aeronautics and sustainable development;
- Comprehensive and synthetic view of the ICAO CORSIA program.
