Résumé
The objective of the training session is to give a 360° awareness raising view on the status of development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels for aviation.
Objectifs de la formation
- Define what Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) are,
- Present the different types and characteristics of SAF and their respective potentials,
- Identify requirements and constraints for the development and implementation of SAF,
- Present the evolutions, trials and knowledge acquired over the last decades,
- Present roadmaps (regional or global) for the development of SAF
Description
- The motivations for introducing Sustainable Alternative Fuels for aviation in the fight against climate change, as part of the ICAO Basket of Measures,
- The definition and identification of different types of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (drop-in or not), including their potential for reducing the impact of aviation on climate change,
- The regulatory, standard-setting and certification processes for sustainable alternative fuels (ASTM, ICAO...), sustainability criteria,
- The production, infrastructure, and provisioning (feedstock options, processing routes, sustainability performance),
- The volume needed and the source availabilities,
- The economic case for Sustainable Alternative Fuels,
- The flight trials and the first uses in commercial flights (cases studies, ICAO GFAAF),
- The trends,
- The integration of Sustainable Aviation Fuels in market-based measures (ICAO CORSIA, EU ETS) and policy regimes (EU fit for 55 Package, EU Refuel),
- The various roadmaps to achieve the contribution of Sustainable Alternative Fuels for aviation (ICAO 2050 Vision, ATAG Pathway 2050, EU Destination 2050...),
- The promotion of Sustainable Alternative Fuels for aviation (stakeholders, processes...).
Evaluation
Multiple on-line surveys
Methods :
Alternating theoretical and practical contributions, participative workshops
Points forts
- Expert instructors in aeronautics and sustainable development
- Comprehensive and synthetic view of technologies and regulations
