Résumé

Master a reasonned and safe transition form conventional air navigation to performance-based navigation (PBN)

Objectifs de la formation

  • Identify the means of navigation and their current use according to the different phases of flight in PBN
  • Recognise the advantages and limitations of satellite navigation (GNSS) in the PBN concept
  • Analyse the various constraints of PBN RNP approaches and EFVS visual augmentation systems.
  • Describe A-PNT (Alternate Position, Navigation, Time) systems and how they are used.
  • Analyse the information from the pilot's and controller's points of view in order to acquire a global view of navigation problems.

Prérequis

To be able to list the air navigation means

Description

  • Fundamental principles of navigation today
  • The PBN reference system
  • Satellite navigation constellations, the GNSS concept
  • ABAS SBAS GBAS augmentation systems
  • Types of PBN RNP approaches
  • The future of PBN
  • Introduction to EFVS visual augmentation systems
  • GPS jamming
  • Alternative means of positioning (A-PNT) - Conventional back-up networks
  • Practical application of a GNSS loss in an A320 flight simulator
  • The pilot's point of view
  • The controller's point of view
  • Developments in CAT II/III landing system (ILS with 32-antenna localizer versus GBAS)

Points forts

  • Multiple specialist speakers
  • Session on an A320 flight simulator, to better understand problems of loss GNSS signals
